Sita and Prasan asked me to make their living room feel like somewhere they’d never want to leave. A destination to feel calm and relaxed in the day, not just a space to pass through.
Not a brief about colours or style. But a feeling.
This hand-painted mural in a family home in North London features tropical botanicals, floor to ceiling peacock composition, two hummingbirds and a tortoise. Painted around their existing light fixtures. Every element purposefully positioned and created to shape the entire room and how it would be used.
“The best thing was that we got to speak with Pruthvi throughout the process. We talked about feeling, mood, colours. It always catches me out, it’s really nice to be caught out by it from time to time, before it was just a blank wall. Now when you are relaxing in the space, it catches you by surprise and you think oh wow.”
